Solar Energy

Six solar collectors on the roof of the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre are providing electricity whenever the sun is shining.  At times when the Nature Centre does not need all the electricity being generated, it is fed back into the BC Hydro grid.

Here is are informative videos about the BC Hydro net-metering program to which the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre is connected and about Viridian Energy Co-operative, the installers of the Nature Centre solar system.  You can find more information from BC Hydro here.
