Inside the Nature Centre, you’ll find interactive opportunities for all ages to learn about the estuary, its watershed, marine life, and natural and cultural history.
You can explore the interactive “Connecting the Drops” watershed exhibit: an opportunity to learn about the water cycle, and the salmon cycle, in the Cowichan and Koksilah rivers. Or you can peek behind the eelgrass curtain, there’s a story map where you take an animated and narrated journey from the last ice age to the present in the Cowichan Valley. Or you can use our microscopes, telescopes and explore other interactive displays.
And, of course, there’s the marine aquarium and observation tank, which is a great place to meet colourful, quirky, intertidal creatures. If you want to know more about them, make sure to ask one of our volunteers. They can tell you the creatures’ stories and help you find the ones that are really good at hiding.
A little peak at who might be in our touch tank today!
