Our programs are designed to complement BC’s core learning objectives, critical thinking, communication, personal responsibility, and inquiry, through direct experience with local ecosystems. Each session includes outdoor activities, guided observation, and opportunities for children to explore, question, and engage with the changing seasons.

Nature Seekers is a brand-new 6-week learning series created for home learners and families who want to deepen their connection with the natural world. Developed by the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre, this program blends sensory exploration, ecological literacy, and hands-on discovery to support young learners in building meaningful relationships with the land. Learners will leave the 6 weeks as field scientists, learning to incorporate all of their senses!

Throughout the program, every child receives a waterproof field notebook to use as their personal nature journal. Learners will build skills in noticing patterns, recording observations, and understanding the ecological relationships around them. Over six weeks, participants will also contribute to a collaborative group project while completing weekly individual nature challenges aligned with the season.
